Cow Bank Initiative (CBI):
The CBI project was created to help people with visual impairment and their families in Binh Phuoc Province break away from the cycle of poverty and social exclusion. The project is a revolving fund that loans female calves to people with visual impairment and their families. The family pays back the loan by distributing the first female calf born of the loaned cow to another selected person with visual impairment and his/her family. Relating Adults and Youth for Health (READY for HEALTH): The READY for Health project was created to help improve adolescent lifestyle choices in Cao Bang Province, with a focus on sexual and reproductive health and substance abuse. The project combines the school-based peer education approach (through peer educators and adult mentors) and the community-based public education method (through the Women's Union networks and parents of adolescent children). The CHIC project was created to help improve adolescent lifestyle choices in Cao Bang Province, with a focus on sexual and reproductive health and substance abuse. The project reaches it target groups through (1) a 24/7 counselling hotline, (2) an interactive website (http://www.tuvantuoihoa.org.vn) with a message board, (3) weekly radio counselling shows in a variety of languages, and (4) other counselling and educational activities at local schools and health clinics. Literacy Class Empowers Ethnic Minority Women (LICEEM): The LICEEM project was created to promote and improve the overall socio-economic status of ethnic minority women in Cao Bang Province. Using ACTIONAID's REFLECT approach, the project works through the local Women's Union to organize literacy classes and clubs for illiterate women (and men) aged 25 or above, as well as other capacity building and awareness raising activities for the local communities. The project includes a cow bank component and a variety of other community development activities, with a focus on clean water, environmental sanitation, and pressing social issues (human trafficking, domestic violence, chid labour, etc.). Creating Opportunities for People with Visual Impairment in Hanoi (CROP): The CROP project was created to help improve the Hanoi Blind Association's capacity through training in advocacy (communication strategy and IEC material development), fund-raising, IT skills (computer & internet use), marketing skills, massage therapy, and Braille literacy.
