VIETNAM (November 4, 2025) – In response to the havoc wreaked by Typhoon Wipha, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) in Vietnam has provided multipurpose cash assistance to 110 poor and vulnerable families, 440 persons from the Nghe An province, to bridge basic food, health and other needs until they are able to get their livelihoods going again.
The families were selected from among 1) households impacted directly by the disaster with limited capacity to recover on their own, 2) families with the most vulnerable members, such as pregnant women, children under 5 years old, the elderly and persons with disabilities and 3) households whose homes were severely damaged due to the typhoon and flooding. The multipurpose cash assistance of 3,000,000 VND (115USD) was given, equivalent to a household’s two-month minimum basic expenditure basket.
ADRA worked with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee who organized the distribution location, time and date. The distribution took place at the Con Cuong Commune office, Nghe An province.
“ADRA wants to bring hope to vulnerable community members impacted by natural disaster by providing needed relief.” says Mark Schwisow, country director for ADRA in Vietnam. ADRA works with partners in country to help reach the most severely affected communities.
Vietnam is experiencing one of its most severe and prolonged typhoon seasons in decades. Twelve typhoons and tropical depressions impacted Viet Nam between May and October, bringing torrential rains, floods, and widespread landslides. ADRA is continuing to respond.
