Pham Thi Tuyet is one of the excellent students of the Industrial Garment class, awarded the YES Center Hanoi Project’s Startup Idea Contest 2019. With the support and encouragement from the Center for Women Development Support in Hanoi and ADRA in Vietnam, Tuyet boldly opened her own business in her hometown in Ba Vi district, Hanoi. Tuyet’s garment workshop has created jobs for more than 10 women in the area, and supplied a large number of processed garments to wholesale markets in Hanoi. Tuyet’s monthly income has increased significantly, so that Tuyet can buy more materials for the workshop, and take better care of her small family. Knowing the increasing requirements from customers, Tuyet is still learning and improving her sewing techniques and pass on to her workers in the workshop. Talking to ADRA’s staffs at the recent field visit, Tuyet was delighted: “If the judges hadn’t asked me if I could open a workshop right after the competition, I wouldn’t have this garment workshop today”.
