Community & Economic Development for Livelihood Improvement Project (CEDLIP)

The Community and Economic Development for Livelihood Improvement Project (CEDLIP) is funded by Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland through ADRA Finland Foundation. The project takes place from 2015 – 2017 in Bao Lac District, one of the most remote and poorest districts of Cao Bang province.

The two selected communes of Bao Lac district,  which are Thuong Ha and Bao Toan, have 6 ethnic minority groups, 49% of  the households in the area remaining in poverty. The issue of improving livelihood lies more deeply than just permanent poverty or lack of opportunities for the residents. One of major obstacles detected by ADRA Vietnam staff is the absence of effective mechanism for community-led and people-centered participation in livelihood development.

The proposed project responds to the above situation by establishing and empowering the community-based organisations (CBOs), building capacity for local officials and community members, promoting sustainable economic development via market oriented-production.

615 people are targeted as primary beneficiaries of CEDLIP, of which 50% are female; an additional number of 6,460 community members are reached out as secondary beneficiaries, including the elder, children, people with disabilities.
