Initiated by ADRA Australia, ADRA Connections are short-term volunteer trips aim at connecting volunteers from many countries with the people or the local community they will help to improve their life and their future.
The volunteers who are young, adult, old aged or kids with their parents will raise fund to support a specific project in Vietnam. They will travel to Vietnam and spend 5-7 days at the project’s site to really put their hand on working with local people to implement their project.
From 2012 up to 2019, ADRA Vietnam received 20 connection trips from different countries including Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, Finland and Korea.
Foreign volunteers participated in many activities:
- Renovate house, kitchen, bathroom & WC for members of Blind Associations in Nam Dinh and Thai Binh provinces
- Build new boarding rooms for ethnic minorities kids at schools in Cao Bang province
- Concrete playground and renovate schools in Cao Bang province
- Build water system for ethnic minorities community in Cao Bang province
- Build dykes and renovate school in Vinh Long province
- Health check and water filter system in Tay Ninh province
What will you do during the Connection trip?
A Connection trip can be 7-12 days. The volunteers will spend 5-7 days at project’s site to do the work together with local people. Up to their skills and ages, they can do some works like:
- Take off the old layers of walls & apply new layers
- Mix cement and sand & concrete the playground
- Apply ceramic bricks & paint the walls outside & inside
- Teach kids with painting, singing, English, games …
- Train local people how to make a water filter system
- Check health for kids (if they have medical back ground)
The second part of the trip is to explore the sightseeing in Vietnam. This part will be 1-3 days to have a city tour in Hanoi or visit Trang An landscape complex, a famous eco-tourism if you have only one day, a two day cruise in Ha Long Bay if you stay longer and many other attractive places in Vietnam.
